The two main groups of the participants of World War I were the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. This article contains lists of participants of World War I (in alphabetical order) until the signing of the Treaty of Sèvres (1920).
Allies and Associated Powers/The Entente
[edit]The Allies were a group of countries that fought the Central Powers. They were (in order of joining): Serbia, the Russian Empire (later the Russian Republic), France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Portugal, Romania, the United States, Greece, and many others.

Both countries had the right to protect the region.[10] On the same day of the German invasion in Belgium, the region was occupied by Germany.
